Please see attachment for footnotes/citations! Essay Question 1.docx (71.85 KB) Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles? Baba Faqir Chand’s experiences are important when trying to understand the projective nature of religious vision and miracles because Chand does not take credit for spiritual work; it was his devotees that made him into this spiritual figure. For example, Chand saved a group of his soldiers because in the midst of his “near death experience”, a guru appeared to him, “told him not to attack the enemy with the last of their ammunition and let them grab their dead”. Chand told his superior and they did as the guru in Chand’s head had said, this resulted in a miracle that saved all of their lives. However, Chand, “absolutely disclaimed himself of any miracles attributed to his spiritual work, saying quite frankly that they were products of either the devotee’s previous karma or intense faith”.
