1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I believe artificial intelligence, while continuing to impress and grow in complexity will not become a significant problem to human beings in the future. This is due to the inherent qualities of the brain, the same that spur creativity and curiosity, is something a computer can not replicate. In the film brief video biography of Alan Turing, he argued that with problems that even computers could not arrive at the solution to, it would be impossible for a human to program it into a computer’s abilities. I believe in similar limitations, as even in the simulated process of conversation, the understanding, communication, and conveyance of emotion and understanding are subtle and impossible to replicate, which leads to many of the reasons why most machines will fail the Turing test, as they begin to feel disconnected, and unable to grasp more abstract and subtle ideas in language.

2. How has technology impacted your life?
The explosion of internet has exponentially increased the media available to human beings in extraordinary amounts. The overstimulation of new (usually useless) information has dulled our ability to focus causing us to “suffer from digital overload”, as stated in “The Codex Funeral”. In spite of this, the numerous benefits of being able to have the world’s knowledge in your front pocket is now taken for granted, and the numerous functions that aid both leisure and professional sections of life have shifted how people work. Many homes no longer have landlines due to their active cellphone use. This growing interconnected world has created new challenges regarding the security of one’s information as well as caused many different fields to come together and work on ways in which computation can better help other fields’ customers, whether it be through actual improvements in system, or something as simple as making checkout available online for a small business. It’s growing importance is here, and it's here to stay.
