Question 1
Artificial Technology can be dangerous in the future. I believe that technology is only as good or bad as the people who are using it. If human beings want to use that technology to harm others they can reprogram that technology against innocent people. Ray Kurzweil spoke about being worried that the technology that he helped develop for the military to stop biological terror can be used by those who he is trying to stop. I don’t believe that technology itself will take over the world like in the Terminator movies. I believe that human beings would use that technology to make it easier to initiate wars and commit terrorist acts.
Question 2
I absolutely believe that technology has impacted my life in both a negative and positive way. Technology brings information to your fingertips, just go to Google and type in anything and you’ll get a multitude of information. Instant exposure to art, music and games are just a quick search away. We can visit with family 2,000 miles away in an instant by using a mobile streaming app. We can donate money to causes in our community without leaving our sofas.
I also believe that technology has made me lazy, physically lazy. Rather than walk upstairs to my parents’ bedroom, I merely send them a text message. I also think that technology has stunted the art of conversation especially among my peers. It’s unusual to pick up our cellphones to CALL someone and have a conversation. It’s so much easier to shoot off a text message.
