Week 6
1. Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
The reason why Faqir Chand’s experiences important in understanding the projective is he point out a new hypothesis, which is “unknowing hypothesis” (Land, p15) When miracles happened, this person does not aware that he or she has the power, just like when Jesus heal people he did not know that he was able to bring miracles. According to the required reading “the unknowing stage” through Faqir Chand’s experiences, he thinks that “All manifestations, visions, and forms that are seen within are mental (illusory)creations” (Land p12). In the other words, no one did the miracles but ourselves. People give credit to gods whom they believe in, because of the illusion that consciousness gives. All their gods took the credit, but Faqir Chand did not, in the book he denied all the miracles that his followers think he did, and he clarified is their own Selves solve their problems.

2. What is meant by the phrase, “philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy.”
The phrase “philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy”, refers that philosophy is a guide to science which led people to question and discuss. If the job of guiding done well enough then people is able to find the evidence and proof the philosophy theory. At this moment, philosophy theory became scientific fact. For example, in the book of “Quantum Weirdness,” before quantum being discovered, the truth of the universe was a philosophy question that every philosopher was asking. Though the study of the quantum, philosophers saw hope because they thought that quantum mechanics might solve the philosophy question to a scientific fact. However, quantum mechanics still did not fully explain the truth of the universe, so this question still is a philosophy question.
