1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
Artificial Intelligent is described by Keith Frankish and William M. Ramsey in their article, “The Cambridge Handbook of Artificial Intelligence” as computer technology that is created by humans to will begin to develop consciousness and then begin to learn information independently without the needs of humans. In present time we are getting close to building supercomputers that are able to perform near AI level Intelligence, and are surprising well on picking up human patterns and knowledge to make independent decisions. The reviewer of Frankish and Ramsey’s article state that Nick Bostrom in his article “Superintelligence” claims that “Since AI may have the ability to mass reproduce and each successor system may be more intelligent than the prior one, these smarter minds may pose great risks to our overall wellbeing” (DIEM-LANE, 71). However I believe that unlike humans, computer will eventually have a limit to their intelligence, I believe that the cutting point of computer AI is the present human behavior, and that since humans, unlike computer, are able to adapt and evolve, even if computer poses problems to future humans, we will be able to overcome them.
2. How has technology impacted your life
Technology is a huge part of my life. One aspect of technology that I utilize greatly and consistently is the fact that the internet has created almost a neural network of minds, and that information on almost everything can be found. I utilize websites such as Youtube and Wikipedia, to learn about almost everything that I need to. And find crowd source websites such a forums and Reddit, to find similar people that can help me with any question that I may have. Basically, if there is something I want to learn about, and someone has posted that information on the internet, I have the ability to obtain that knowledge
