Week 5:
1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I
n my own opinion, artificial intelligence will not be a significant problem for people in the future. Even if it is going to be a serious problem, I think people will have the technology to stop it. The film, Ray Kurzweil: The Coming Singularity shows technologies that were actually made for helping people lives can be used for terrorists to kill people. Kurzweil also says that, “technology’s been a double-edged sword.” Kurzweil means that technology can help people but can also be deadly like a sword. I think that no matter how smart artificial intelligence will be or how much problem it can cause, people will be able to stop it or prevent it; there will always be solution to every problem. I think that artificial intelligence will cause problem one day in the future, but in the end, I believe that it will possibly do more good than harm. We should not be afraid of how artificial intelligence will be in the future, so that we could keep thinking forward or keep extending our reach. To think that a computer system will be able to make decisions that a normal human should be in charge of is scary. Humans have a conscious that allow them to make the most moral decision at the correct time. If we take this away from humans and make computers in charge of this will devastating in many ways.

2. How has technology impacted your life?
Technology is one of the biggest evolving things that are in everyday life. For many of us we have come accustomed to adapting technology as a lifestyle. However, too much of it can turn out to be bad but it also has its good parts. The film The Codex Funeral sums the good in technology in one sentence. It says, “ the book of the future that we are now getting a glimpse of on a Apple’s iPod and other illuminating android devices is hypertext. All text, all images, all sounds, all films, all games, and all inter activities accessed in the speed of light, and in the palm of our hands and in our visual and auditory fields.” Although technology has allowed for us to stay connected with the world it at times has separated us into a false reality. I have noticed a shift from indulging in the virtual world with my family. Since we are not as close as before I have notice a blessing due to my online connections. Through social media applications like Facebook, Instagram, and Email I am able to stay in contact with people from across the world.
