1. Artificial intelligence is likely to become a problem in the future. The power of technology and automated computer algorithms is infinite and most well described with how Ray Kurzeil describes it in The Coming Singularity, “Computers are already superior to us because they harness all of human knowledge with just a few key strokes and they can remember billions of things accurately...they could share knowledge at electronic speeds that are a billion times faster than human language.” If artificial intelligence were to become a problem, I think it would be because it would get in the wrong hands used for malicious purposes. “The downside to all this is that bioterrorists can reprogram biological viruses to be more deadly or more communicable." The capacity of power of artificial intelligence is unknown, and we have to assume that its bounds are endless, making it a potential to become a threat.
2. Technology has helped me decide what I want to do in my career. I was a 90’s kid, born in the early-mid 1990’s, where technology was barely a part of my life. I have witnessed how, in a mere 2 decades, my life, personally, has used technology from seeing the earliest Windows desktop at my parents’ work and using telephones that still had the wire connecting it to the wall, to now - typing my homework up on an online class, which I submit via the internet. Seeing this massive growth has shown me how big of a business industry technology is, which I why I wanted to work for a tech company.
