1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
Yes, I do think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future. Firstly, it would make human being somehow useless. The AI can process information and calculate the result with a huge amount of data in a very short time. And they won’t be afraid, like creatures do. They can complete jobs like saving people in dangerous situation or fighting battle instead of human. Hence, they may replace human to do the jobs like soldiers, domestic helpers, firefighters or even the management of a production line. As they can replace human being, the people supposed to do that kind of job would become very useless. Secondly, the development of AI is beyond our imagination. Take AlphaGo as an example. AlphaGo, the AI program which is designed to play a chess called “go”, is already proven to be better than the best go player in the world. It has no fear, pressure and other emotions. What if such kind of technology is introduced to other aspect? Would the AI someday be able to develop its own character and thought, and become a threat to human, like the film I, Robot? Hence, AI is too strong that I think it would be a big problem in the future.
2. How has technology impacted your life?
I think the greatest impact of technology is that it can reveal the hidden phenomenon, no matter by accident or in purpose. Take smart phone as an example. Many critics claim that the introduction of smart phone would worsen human relationship. For example, people no longer phone but they text; they will search the net in the railway instead of talking to the one next to him; they would even text to others while dinning. The critics claim that technology would give bad impact to us. However in my opinion, maybe it is not the smart phone worsening our relationship with others, but such relationship is already worsened at the first place. Thus, when there is no smart phone, people is forced to talk and interact while they actually do not want. Also, a smart phone is a good disguise to avoid embarrassment. Smart phone is just a tool to make people confront those we had escaped from. Another example is the invention of scientific instruments to observe things we cannot see by naked eyes, from universe to atom. These technology reveal what is hidden and makes us understand the world better, and we somehow are not likely to explain things through religion.
