Week 4
Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution has been questioned for many years. It is so important in understanding how human beings behave for several reasons.
In the book, "The DNA of Consciousness: A Brief Introduction of Evolutionary Philosophy" Andrea writes the meaning of evolution by saying, " One of the difficulties in explaining the theory of evolution is where to start. I have noticed over the years... most students don't really know much about Charles Darwin and they certainly know less about the mechanism of natural selection. Usually, I have a fairly vocal contingent of fundamentalist Christians who tend to believe in the literal interpretation of Genesis and therefore believe that God created the world in six days. Some accept an old earth hypothesis (five billion years old); whereas others believe that the world is only several thousand years old." (Diem-Lane, Andrea, pg. 7) After reading this quote, and the book in general, I realized that evolution is such a controversial idea that regardless of how it began it tends to creates dispute among everyone. It’s important to know how we come to this world, open-mindedly regarding the controversy, we still come from our parents. In addition, our parents had parents, and their parents had parents, and the chain goes on. Thus, in result the definition of evolution. Behavior is such a big part in evolution because we are only capable of what our body and mind can handle. Mechanisms that one does sometimes reflect on how their parents did whether it is physically or mentally; either become better and learn from them or to go on and be different, like society today.

Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
Along with the controversial theory of evolution, there many questions. Some of those questions can be answered by theories, hypothesis, dialysis and statistics. However, there are some questions that haven't been answered on evolutionary theory. For an example, the main question everyone still wonders about is how life was formed. There are different species with a plethora amount but we don't emphasize how they came to be? Some scientists in previous years have said that we came from apes. Well if there are apes still in the world, and there are humans, then why aren't there the human/ape in-between? What would happen in years from now for human evolution?
According to Neuralsurfer he said, "Darwin believed that the natural selection process embedded in the evolution itself would trigger the transformation of the unconscious cells to conscious existences" (neuralsurfer, 2013). Based off of this, I believe our cells would evolve so something more out of our understanding. As years go by we become more intellectual, as it should, but will our appearance become different? Will cancer ever get cured or will it become a genetic outbreak where everyone has mutation in our DNA. Somethings are left unanswered, however we have theories for now, until we have our final conclusion.
