Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
It it is vital to understand the theory of evolution in order to comprehend the behaviors of human beings because we must know the ancestry of mankind in order to understand the reasons why we behave in certain ways. If we cannot understand where we as humans came from, understanding the reasoning behind our behavior becomes difficult, if not impossible to do. In The DNA of Consciousness, it is explained that three key factors determine the way each one of us looks. Those three factors include sexual selection, genetic mutation, and natural selection. Unknowingly, we are all being “tested” by nature and as a result we will either have offspring that will carry on our own unique DNA configuration, or we will not (7). The three factors described in The DNA of Consciousness have played a role in human existence since the dawn of man and have and will continue to have an influence on who we are, who we will become, and how we behave as a population.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
There are still many questions that evolutionary theory cannot answer. One is the existence of what are referred to as “modern fossils”: thousands of creatures that have shown no significant evolutionary change over millions of years. The horseshoe crab is one example of just one modern fossil that has not evolved in over 200 million years. Another question that cannot be answered is the origination of life on planet Earth or where the necessary chemical ingredients came from that were necessary to create the universe. There is also no evidence to show the mechanism that triggers an evolutionary change in a certain species or how quickly evolution occurs. Currently there are many fossil links missing in the chain of evolution that would prove the existence of a tie between one species and another.
