1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
After reading the book The DNA of Consciousness: A Brief Introduction of Evolutionary Philosophy I realized that evolution regardless of how it began because that always tends to create chaos is pretty simple. It’s important to realize that we come from our parents. I know duh right but what I mean is that it takes genomes from our parents to make our very own DNA. This is what makes us, well us! In the book it talked a lot about DNA and vital it is to survival. “For evolutionists the revolution in DNA technology has been a major advance. The reason is that the very nature of DNA allows it to be used as a “document” of evolutionary history: comparisons of the DNA sequences of various genes between different organisms can tell us a lot about the relationships of organisms…” (pg 10) Were all different and unique and if we can all come to terms with that we would have a better understanding of each individuals.

2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer? Be sure to support your answers with references to the required readings and films.
I feel this question is pretty broad and opened to a lot of opinion.
For Darwin it was the “Inability to imagine that Unconscious processes could overtime produce conscious self-awareness.” (YouTube video listed below) As I was reading into the second part of The DNA of Consciousness: A brief Introduction of Evolutionary Philosophy I came across some interesting questions that I feel evolution cannot really answer. In the nook it says, “[Evolution] is not focused on advocating some specific future reform, but rather in uncovering why humans are predisposed to ask so many questions which at least at the present stage, cannot be answered. In other words if evolution is about living long enough to transmit one’s genetic code, how does philosophy help in our global struggle for existence? (pg 18) This really stood out to me because I have never really thought about it like this. For me being a Christian how does evolution prove God DID NOT exist? How can the bible not be real? How did we even get this idea of a GOD existing and passing all these bible stories for generations and generations? I know I am getting into a touchy subject but these are the types of questions that evolution theory can’t answer.
