The virtual simulation theory of consciousness as explained in the film “The Disneyland of Consciousness” is explained as how our minds trick ourselves into thinking somethings are real while in reality they are not. This is done through our own dreams creating characters and situations that we experience while we sleep. Consciousness is said to not be awareness but as being a context.
The brain tricks us in many ways. One way being that we believe some things to be true when they are not. Another way is the creation and death of consciousness. The brain does not allow people to remember when we were consciousness versus when we are not. The brain allows people to think and believe things that we have no idea if they are actually true and correct. This is beneficial for our genetic survival due to the reason that the more we think we know the higher we believe we are in nature. Consciousness allows people to play out things and predict the outcome. Being able to think out the results of scenarios ultimately allows humans to survive better.
