1. Explain the virtual simulation theory of consciousness.
the virtual simulation theory proposes the idea that everything we have mentally produced is an ongoing neural reaction that acts as a virtual simulation based upon the 5 senses we possess as humans. in the book the "Is the Universe an App," by David and Andrea lane it mentions the ongoing evolution of consciousness it states, "Arguably, consciousness is a virtual simulator, apparently evolved over eons of time to enable mammals with higher brain functions to “in source” varying options of how to respond to a disparate array of problems before “out sourcing” them." we use every aspect of our body to simulate new proposed ideas in which is fundamentally philosophy itself. it is not consciousness which creates these new idealisms but the chemical reaction of millions of neurons among our bodies. as Ray Kurzweil said, “Although we experience the illusion of receiving high-resolution images from our eyes, what the optic nerve actually sends to the brain is just a series of outlines and clues about points of interest in our visual field. We then essentially hallucinate the world from cortical memories that interpret a series of movies with very ow data rates that arrive in parallel channels.” we as humans ourselves interpret what we want to believe or essentially do with every movement of our body.
2. How does the brain trick us and for what benefit is it for our genetic survival?
our brain tricks us by inability of the true power the mind possesses. in other words, if the true capacity were to be ever be fulfilled by one it would dramatically end the genetic generations to come in part of his or her given dna. the given senses only act as a simulator of the bigger things and diminish it to smaller capacities for a simplistic understanding, as stated in the book is the universe an app,"Our five senses don't reveal the universe at large so much provide us with a severely edited version of what our bodies necessitate to live long enough in order to pass on our genetic histories." these five senses are limited to what they initially perceive. for example, in the book it describes the example of a sunset. it states," We see a sunset at a favorite beach and our experience is that it is happening right then, but we have discovered from astronomy that it actually takes eight minutes or so for the light from the sun to reach us." it is an illusion the body or more precise the mind uses in order to perceive the idea that what is happening is happening in the instance and in fact is more likely something form the past. everything we endure is endless past histories we are living a past world in the present.
