1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution is so important in understanding how human beings behave because we first need to know how we become who we are in order to understand why we behave in certain way. In the beginning of the book "The DNA of Consciousness", it talks about how a professor start explaining evolution of theory by begin with what we all know and what we all agree upon, which being we come from our parents and they come from theirs. This made me thinking, I do behave in certain way because of the influences from my parents, and my grandparents must have some degree of influences on my parents. If this goes on and on, we can trace it back to hundreds of millions years ago. The theory of evolution mainly is about the mechanism of natural selection by Charles Darwin, which being those who are more fit in the world were the ones who passed down their DNAs. I as well as everyone else in the world am here today is a success because everyone in our genetic past has lived and passed down their DNAs. This has helped us to understand how we become who we are and how we behave.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
Evolutionary theory cannot answer who was the first human being in the universe as well as what human beings will become in a billion years later. The theory of evolution can only provide a basic and comprehensive view of how human beings evolved over time, but it cannot say for sure who was the first human being in the universe. Moreover, the evolutionary theory cannot tell us every stage of evolution due to the lack of evidence.
Evolutionary theory cannot predict what human beings will become in a billion years later because there are too many elements can affect how human beings evolve. Unpredictable future event might change the species of human beings over night, just like it did to dinosaurs. Therefore, evolutionary theory can only provide us an understanding but not absolute certainty.
