1. Why is understanding physics and the general rules of the universe so important in doing philosophy?
Physics is essentially the study of what makes up the earth, the atmosphere, and living things. There are many theories such as the String Theory and the Big Bang Theory that add to the study of physics. Not only does physics somewhat explain our existence, but it also brings up many questions about our existence. For example, as seen in the video Quantum Thinking there is still a lot we don't know about pertaining to matter and electrons. Physics and philosophy have an important connection because philosophy is the study of our existence and reality; physics scientifically proves our philosophical thinking. Understanding physics is an important part of philosophy because in order to think on a deep level of how, when, and why humans exist; it is important to have a general understanding of the science behind how, when and why. Philosophy is important when science can't prove something. If an idea or hypothesis can't be scientifically proven, it is then open to interpretation.
2. What is eliminative materialism? Provide three examples of it.
Eliminative Materialism is the thought that humans common sense is based upon a false reality. According to theories, humans don't have the mind capability to fully understand the dimension we live in. According to the YouTube, eliminative materialism is to find logical reasons why things happen. Eliminative materialism states humans don't have the mind capacity to fully understand what is actually taking place in front of them; instead they create reasons and rhymes, that fit there own reality.
Examples:
1. If someone is thirsty, they will go get a class of water.
2. If it is raining outside, they will fetch an umbrella to stay dry.
3. If they feel tired, they will go to sleep.
These are all examples of Eliminative materialism because they show how an earthly reality can dictate the actions of a human mind.
